Kings xi punjab
Kings XI Punjab performed well in this season of the Indian Premier League and many of us were not expecting it. At the start of this tournament, they relied on spin bowlers, but they had a great performance by the batsmen and the fast bowlers, even Chris Gayle was not part of the playing XI for the last three matches. About 11 matches were completed and two centuries were scored which came from the batting order of both Kings XI Punjab.
KL Rahul scored one against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mayank Rahul scored one against Rajasthan Royals. We saw that the batting order of Kings XI Punjab is dependent on Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul. He has batsmen like Karun Nair, Nicholas Puran, Glenn Maxwell and Jimmy Neesham, who should play a role in the batting department.
We are hoping that Bigg Boss, Cheers Gayle can be a part of the playing eleven in this match and this will add more chances in the Punjab batting order. When we look at the bowling unit of this team, Mohammed Shami is the bowler who had deep overs. Ravi Bishnoi is also doing well, but Sheldon Cottrell, who was dismissed by Rahul Tewatia for 30 in the last over, had to regain his form and should perform well against the strong batting order of Mumbai Indians.
Kings XI Punjab lost the last match against which they could easily win. His loss of around 87 runs in the last four overs was the reason for his loss. The way his batting order performed in that match was amazing. He scored a total of 223 runs in his 20-over innings. Mayank Agarwal had a great performance in that match. He scored 106 runs while he faced 50 balls and hit 10 fours and seven sixes. Captain KL Rahul also performed brilliantly after scoring a century in the last match. He scored 69 runs off 54 balls with the help of seven fours and a six. Maxwell and Puran were not dismissed until the end of their innings. Puran scored 25 runs off just eight balls and hit three sixes.
The bowling unit of Kings XI Punjab failed to defend the target of 224 runs on the board and leaked this record target in 19.3 overs. Mohammed Shami was the highest wicket-taker for his side, but he scored a lot of runs. He took three wickets for 53 runs in his four overs. Sheldon Cottrell smashed 53 runs in three overs, including 30 runs in one over. He took one wicket while James Neesham and Murugan Ashwin also took one wicket each. Ravi Bishnoi plundered 34 runs in his four overs and failed to take any wickets. Glenn Maxwell was also wicket-less.
Mumbai Indians are continuing their tradition of a slow start in the Indian Premier League. He has played three matches so far with just one win to his name. They lost two matches and are currently 5th in the points table. They lost their most recent match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. That match was tied and the decision of that match in the super over was final.
The performance of his bowling unit was not impressive. He was charged with 201 runs in 20 overs. He used six bowlers in that match and no bowler from his side could stop Royal Challengers Bangalore’s strong batting order from scoring runs. For him, Trent Boult was the highest wicket-taker, taking three wickets for 34 runs in his four overs. Rahul Chahar took one wicket in his four overs, while 31 runs were taken from him. James Pattinson, Bumrah, Krunal Pandya and Pollard were the bowlers who failed to take any wickets in the previous match.
How was the performance of the batting order of Mumbai Indians in the last match, they were able to score 90 runs in the last five overs of their innings, which is a record in the history of T20 cricket. They could not chase down the target of 202 runs but leveled the score. Ishan Kishan, who played his IPL match this season, was the highest run-scorer for his side, scoring 99 runs and unfortunately he could not complete his century. He faced 58 balls and hit two fours and nine sixes. Kieron Pollard had a great performance with the bat. He scored 60 runs and hit three fours and five sixes in just 24 balls. Quinton de Kock scored 14 runs while skipper Rohit Sharma managed just eight runs.
